Today, I visited the Great Central Railway, although I didn’t look at the cars at Quorn & Woodhouse Station (if you like classic cars, that is probably the event for you!). I had the day off from my duties on the railway-if I hadn’t, I would have gone on Sunday 15th May.
The locomotives in use were: Diesel Multiple Unit, Class 20 D8098, Ivatt Class 2 No. 46521 on normal steam services, LMS 8F No. 48624 on the dining service and the last run of the rake of carriages which had been diesel-hauled, Class 45 No. 45041 ‘Royal Tank Regiment’ and GWR Modified Hall No. 6990 ‘Witherslack Hall’, the latter two being used on a special birthday charter train between Loughborough Central and Rothley.
